The Lost Keys to Success and Happiness
The Twelfth Key: Teamwork
by Trenna Pennington

My London stores are doing extremely well this year. Sales have surpassed last years by almost 50%. So I went to Canterbury with some friends to purchase some fine fabric. It was also a good opportunity to escape from my family for a while. The merchants in Canterbury were very co-operative and I made some great purchases. I bid farewell to the last merchant and walk down to the town square. I was not paying attention to where I was going and literally walked right into a man and dropped my fabrics all over the ground. I apologized and he helped me pick up my things. "These are beautiful fabrics, they should fetch a good price in London", the gentleman said, and I agreed.

We decided to have lunch, and he seemed genuinely interested in my business. As we dined, the conversation steered to the subject of relationships. Business, marriage, friends, - all kinds of relationships. My business relationships were good, I belonged to a powerful merchant association and had many other business acquaintances. My marriage, however was quite another matter. I was miserable, and I made sure that I made my wife miserable. He listened intently, and had a look of compassion on his face as he spoke to me like I was his own child. "Son, I'm going to share with you a key. This key is the twelfth of fifteen, and together the keys will unlock your deepest dreams and greatest successes. Your desires will become reality. My only stipulation is that you must pass the key on to others with whom you come in contact.

Relationships are vital to all aspects of life. Relationships require the co-operation of each person coming together for the purpose of attaining a certain goal. In business, you organize your company with great talent and allow each person to do their job to the best of their ability and talents. You create a team environment, you have salespeople who sell, buyers who are experts in trading, and you leave the finances to those who manage them best. When you balance your business, giving each person a job that they enjoy and excel in, you create a pleasant and productive working environment. Music also helps to create a pleasant and productive environment. Music with a faster tempo stimulates people to a faster work pace. Background music played at a slower tempo helps to relieve stress.

People who work toward a unified purpose develop a super-power. Sports teams win consistently if the players are in harmony with each other. Business owners who work with a team reach higher financial goals. Husbands and wives who live together in harmony working as a team, raise families, accumulate wealth, and fortune. Working at relationships makes them stronger. Balance your work with your family. Having dinner together is an easy way to have more time with your family. Relationships need constant attention and care to grow, put your heart and soul into each one and it will grow and prosper and so will you."

Take action to accomplish your goals and build solid relationships. Your body is made up of billions of cells influenced by your mind. If your mind is inactive your body will become inactive and lazy. Stimulate your body by stimulating your mind. Read a book or plan something you are enthusiastic about. Your body won't feel tired.

Keep a positive frame of mind. LAUGH, LAUGH, and LAUGH some more. After an unpleasant day or event, I go to a place where I won't disturb anyone and I have a good laugh, even a forced one. After five minutes I feel freed from negative emotion.

We took leave of each other and his sincere yet no holds barred way of speaking captivated me and warmed my heart. Self examination proves to be painful, but I knew that I spent so much time growing my business that I neglected my wife and family. I need to make things right with them, I need a balanced schedule that includes exercise and family time. I also need to laugh and have a more positive attitude. Spending time with my family is sure to change my life and theirs - hopefully for the better. HA HA. I can't wait to get home….

Wow, I haven't said that in a long time! HAHA!
