The Lost Keys to Success and Happiness
The Tenth Key: Vision
by Trenna Pennington

Win at all costs, whatever it takes…flattery, double taxing, and cheating, if it gets me lots of money I’ll do it.  As a carpenter, a highly skilled one I might add, I can create a masterpiece in a few days and triple my costs.  I am meeting with one of the wealthiest men in the country he has asked me to make some custom furniture for his study.  The road leading up to the estate was lined with cherry blossoms.  The house itself wasn’t what you call stately, but it was very large.  I was surprised to see an older man answer the door, I expected the butler.  The inside of the house was nicely decorated and the smell of apple pie drifted into the sun room where we were drinking ice tea.

“Son, I’ve asked around and you are a very skilled carpenter, yet people tell me they’ve been cheated out of money.  I want to share with you a key, this key is the ninth of fifteen and used together the keys will unlock your deepest dreams and greatest successes.  They will turn your desires into reality.  The only stipulation is that you must pass on the key to those you come in contact with.” He said “There is a great power of attraction behind the person who has a positive character.  This power expresses itself through the invisible as well as the visible.  You see it in their eyes, in their smile, even in the warmth of their hand shake.  The moment you come within speaking distance of a positive person you can feel the positive energy they give off.

Every “shady” transaction that you engage in, every negative thought you think destroys a little piece of you, and the more pieces you destroy the less character you have left.

Building character takes time but it is well worth it in the long run.  Build your character and reputation by studying other people, closely enough to find out something about them, about their work that you sincerely admire. Listen to others find out their interests and good qualities and talk about them. Talk to them about their interests and not your agenda.  When you speak, speak with conviction.  When you shake hands do it so that you express warmth and enthusiasm.

Aspire to inspire others.  Aspiration is greater than realization, because it keeps us eternally climbing upwards towards some unattainable goal.  The only limitations are the ones you set in your mind.”

Take your joy of work and learn to love people and serve them, you life will be changed.”

I went away that day with more than a furniture order; I walked away with a new attitude and aspirations for a greater life.  My reputation was on the line and I was ready to prove myself.
