The CEO Refresher is a featured recommended web site on Leadership in HBS Working Knowledge.

This is their review.

The CEO Refresher
"Brain food for business!" is the motto of this jaunty online newsletter that pulls together all sorts of valuable, practical information and advice and presents it in an intelligent yet whimsical style. Unlike many sites these days, the CEO Refresher's clean design practically sparkles in its role of supporting ideas and information. In this case, that information means insightful articles and tools, updated on a monthly basis, covering a variety of management issues, such as honing strategy, making the most of your board of directors, improving customer service, and targeting profits. Managers may well find inspiration, too, from "Words and Wisdom," the site's idiosyncratic collection of leadership quotes drawing on everyone from Ben Franklin to Peter Drucker to Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

Three years ago today - January 29, 2005- I received PARTNERING INTELLIGENCE by Stephen Dent from you. That book gave me some great ideas to strengthen existing partnerships and enter into new ones. Hope For The Blind Foundation which I head has experienced growth as a result of this gift and others I have received.

This is not a good work you are doing. IT IS A GREAT WORK. Keep up the great work.

Thank you.

Weekly Pick - Extensive List of Articles on Strategic Planning
The CEO Refresher has compiled an excellent list of strategic planning articles and resources. Some that stand out are Business Planning and Strategic Planning Revisited by Herb Rubenstein, The Art of Strategic Conversation by Skip Corsini, Wishes for Strategic Collaboration, by Helene Mazur (all of her articles are very good!), Building Support for the Strategic Plan: Aligning Employees with Strategy by Robert W. Bradford, and Running a Strategic Planning Session by Estelle Métayer, just to mention a few. For the full list with links to each article, go to: www.refresher.com.

Thanks Anne

I browsed your website and found very insightful and wonderful articles. I am sure that I can be able to better my knowledge and functionality as a Customer-Focused Relations Executive in my organization. Keep up the wonderful “opportunities” you open up for hungry individuals like me.

Thank you Joseph. You're in a vital role for your enterprise. Be the champion of a fact-based and mindful voice of the customer in your organization and you and your enterprise will excel. And always be 'hungry' - leading is learning!

Pimping the CEO Refresher
The CEO Refresher Newsletter is a good old fashioned e-newsletter (Sorry, no RSS feed yet, from what I can tell) that offers some of the most insightful news articles on running the business from other people who are running their repsective areas of business, doing a hell of a job, and living to write about it. I'm constantly impressed by the quality of the content. Check it out, or view a list of authors & the articles that they've contributed. Lots of great stuff here!
Dana VanDen Heuvel

Thanks Dana.

A website for new insights and inspiration is the CEO Refresher at www.refresher.com/ceo.html, a Canadian-edited online business magazine featuring short articles, checklists, book reviews and ideas. This site stands out as content-rich, compared to the many business websites that sound promising but are mostly advertisements.
Richmond Review and Richmond Public Library.

Merci

Please pardon me for writing so infrequently to thank you for your publication. As a consultant to, and teacher of, working managers (Seneca College and Schulich) in the area of customer care, I subscribe to about 100 newsletters. (I do a lot of research and writing. ;-) ) There are few which provide me with the consistent value that does your CEO Refresher. I usually need to budget at least an hour to read the articles in most of your letters that interest me. (It was five different ones in this issue. I really liked the one on "being real" and that on "re-recruiting".) Both went into my resource reading list for my customer service and HR courses.) As a fellow Canuk, the quality of your site and your newsletter makes me feel proud. I refer it and a number of your posted articles to about 200-300 managers a year who take my courses.
Gary Patton

Thanks Gary. We are on a mission to do good, and provide new insights to help bring more mindfulness to business. Your feedback makes it all worth while.

Your website is divine, beautiful, informative and excellent.

Gerrid Smith

I have just discovered your web site and had to send this message of congratulations. In two years of obsessive 'knowledge gathering' it is one of the best I've seen. Well designed, superb writing, inspirational. This is what the internet should be about. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Al Dickman

I'd like to thank you for such a brilliant and usefull web site you've created. It's one of those rare sites where I can spend hours reading the interesting articles.
Álvaro Ferraz

I think that this website is one of the best web sites that I have ever found while surfing the web. The articles are clear and concise and you get the impression that the people who write these articles are not people in think tanks and college campuses. A great big mahalo for making resources such as these so pleasant to read.
Yasuo Ogawa

I must confess refresher.com has been an invaluable partner since I found the "goldmine" through google a few months ago. I actually have a library of many articles I've been able to collate. "Everything" on your site is simply first class! In the CEO Refresher, I have the best take-off point any ambitious young entrepreneur can think of today!

I look at different websites that offer new and innovative topics and your site is by-far the best. I plan to offer this website to be submitted for our national organization of parenting magazines newsletter. It was a great find! Thanks,

Hello, my name is Maria Kiamilidou and I am a Public Relations Practitioner from Greece. In those articles I have found very useful information that has made my work easier, it is a really good tool not only for marketing and PR practitioners but for every person that works in a company. The Wall Street Executive Library's "Best of the Net" Award for The CEO Refresher.  This award is granted to web sites that offer exceptional business resources to the net community.

I was genuinely surprised with your web site. I've grown accustomed to being offered the world through attention grabbing headlines, which actually precede constant prompts to fork over the green, if you want to enjoy the real substance included at the location. Click, no thanks, maybe later. I hope you can continue to provide what is a positive ROI when it comes to the time spent on the Web reading/researching. Thanks!

Top Web Sites for Management Guidance
By Kevin Voigt
- Staff Reporter of The Wall Street Journal, From The Wall Street Journal Online
Those searching for management advice on the Information Superhighway will find few pit stops. Most sites on the topic are flimsy and dull, or thinly veil their true intent, like hawking a consulting company or other services. Many seem more interested in collecting statistical data on you than imparting wisdom on how to run a company. Others are simply keeping the electricity running on pages that haven't been updated in months. But a few Web pages do stand out in their look, ease of use and content, giving executives news they can truly use.

The CEO Refresher (www.refresher.com/ceo.html) has a strong mix of original stories on workplace and career issues. Updated monthly, the site features a mix of opinion ("Why Good Management Ideas Fail -- The neglected Power of Organization Culture" and "The Myth of Extinct Hierarchy") to pop psychology ("Five Ways to Develop Your Managerial Skill" and "Deep Listening: How Can It Make a Difference for You?"). The links on the site are expansive and divided smartly by topic. The best of the bunch.

The CEO Refresher is featured on baldridge plus.com, an impressive site on leadership &  performance excellence.

The CEO Refresher is acknowledged as one of the best resources for business on the web.

The CEO Refresher has been rated as one of the best educational resources on the Web by the researchers of Study Web.

I very much appreciate the effort of those who compiled the various quotations on the Refresher web site. Thought provoking ... inspiring ... a joy to browse through. And to conclude it with George Bernard Shaw's 'This is the true joy of life' is very fitting ... at least from my current vantage point. Thank you!
Norm Zimmer

Having used your site, may I congratulate you on its usefulness and thoroughness.

Your site is an important contribution to business, leaders and our world - thanks!

The CEO Refresher - Great stuff here! I really enjoyed its insights into management, leadership and risk taking. I found our "quote of the day" in the "cluetrain manifesto" article. Their tag line is "brain food for business" - every once and a while I think I need a little brain food, and I found some here.

I was doing some research for an online course, and happened upon your site……I love what you have done, and the way you did it……….. I just can't believe you guys hail Canada as home, sorry about that……but then I guess all Canadians aren't that bad……you guys just proved it to me… keep up the sense of humor and good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dennis from Texas

Hello Dennis
Thank you for the accolades for The CEO Refresher. I sincerely appreciate the positive feedback and am very glad to be of service. Canada is a wonderful place. It's an outstanding country and you should visit. We are unfortunately blessed with many politicians that are assholes, but please be assured that 90% of Canadians always support our friends and allies south of the border. So buy our Alberta beef - it's the best. Try an Alberta prime rib blackened (with a little cajun spice) on the barbeque. I did tonight and it is superb!
Thanks

Thank you Neels
That makes it all worthwhile.

I frequently refer my clients to your site...and a few others that I feel will help enrich their business perspectives. You make my job easier--so much so, that I often joke with my customers that the best expert on my team is "The CEO Refresher." I think your site is one of the most practical sites for any student of marketing, advertising, entrepreneurism, and just plain smart business. There is so much value in what you offer! Keep up the good work!
Michelle Houser

We are trying to raise the level of “thinking strategically” in our business and regular communication of articles/information is a part of that development. In a web search I found your site and found that these articles ( The Strategic Thinking Mindset by Charles Albano, and The Concept of Strategy – Beyond Strategic Planning ) reinforced several of the messages we are trying to convey.
Thanks for your help.

Thank you Curtis. For the benefit of viewers these articles are in Competitive Strategy in The CEO Refresher Archives.

For the past few years the CEO Refresher has been an outstanding resource for me and my team. I think I came across the site following a link from Jim Clemmer. I've been lucky enough to meet Jim once and have corresponded back and forth with Jim for a few years. I always have the CEO Refresher on my recommended links for people. The other bonus has been the kindness of many of the authors. Over the past few years I've received books, courses and numerous other articles simply by asking permission of authors to circulate their work at Stelco. Keep up the good work!
