Portland, Oregon Consultant / Author Develops Interactive Paperback Book
The author of the new paperback, "The Entrepreneur's Survival Guide" has developed a way to communicate with purchasers and continually update their book for a year, at no additional cost. Mark Paul, Partner at Synergy Consulting Group, LLC, a leading Pacific Northwest consulting firm, has made the purchase of his just released, concise softbound book, interactive with those who buy and read it.
How does it work? Mark explained, "It's quite simple and potentially the future model in the publishing industry. The book is a 'normal' 60 page paperback book that sells on amazon.com. That's where the similarities stop. Through a reader-response postcard located in the book, the reader tells us what they liked and didn't like about the book, and what they want to see in the future. Additionally, they provide their e-mail address. Once the post-card is received, two things happen. First, we review their comments and using a new management tool, 'the Affinity Diagramming process,' we continually sort out the feedback to tell us what the real-time issues are that face entrepreneurs and small business owners. Second, I then write about the issues raised the most by readers. With their e-addresses, they will receive e-mail updates to the book. One chapter at a time. Their initial purchase will entitle them to updates for one year."
The book is designed to help entrepreneurs and small business leaders get their company to its next level. Based on Mark's 22 years of business development expertise in Fortune 500 companies, as well as entrepreneurial start-ups, "The Entrepreneur's Survival Guide" - a concise soft-cover handbook - explains principles in a series of topics dealing with the two areas in which new entrepreneurs have the most difficulty:
Building Your Company:
Improving Marketing and Sales Performance:
This guide will save entrepreneurs years of learning the hard way, help them start their companies and catapult them to new heights. It will also remain a reference for future endeavors.
Mr. Paul's review of many business plans through the Oregon Entrepreneur's Forum provided the impetus to address recurring issues entrepreneurs face in building their companies. The book is a result of a series of monthly articles aimed at helping senior executives and entrepreneurs improve their companies. Larry Wade at the Software Association of Oregon supported the initial concept of the articles in 1998. Based on positive responses to these monthly articles, several associations across the United States published most of the chapters found in this guidebook, including the Software Development Forum, Software Council of Southern California, Indiana Information Technology Association, North East Ohio Software Association, and www.delphi.com.
